40 deaths, hostages taken in Paris attacks: report

According to French tv BFMTV, the death toll of Paris attacks Friday night is confirmed to be at 40 death for now, hostages are taken in the theater Bataclan in the 11th district of Paris.

The security forces deployed in front of Bataclan where hostages are taken launched a first assault and killed two attackers, according to BFMTV on early saturday.

The first shooting happened in the 10th district of Paris, followed by two or three explosions outside the national stadium Stade de France.

The second shooting took place in a theater in the 11th district of Paris, where gunshots were heard. According to a police source, there are hostages taken inside the theater.

French President Francois Hollande, evacuated from Stade de France, is in the Interior Ministry for an emergency meeting with Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve.

French President Francois Hollande announced late Friday night that Emergency State across France is declared and France will close its borders. He also said that "unprecedented terrorist attacks are ongoing in Paris."

British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday said he was "deeply shocked" by the deadly attacks in Paris, offering "thoughts and prayers" to the French people.

"I am shocked by events in Paris tonight. Our thoughts and prayers are with the French people. We will do whatever we can to help," Cameron said via his Twitter account.

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond also tweeted: "Deeply shocked by appalling attacks in Paris tonight. My thoughts are with victims and their loved ones. Concerned by reports of hostages taken."

A British Foreign Office statement said it is in close touch with the French authorities and are urgently investigating whether any British nationals are caught up in them.
