A Peking Opera performance based on the German classic "Faust", produced by Chinese, Italian and German artists, will debut in China, the China National Peking Opera Company (CNPOC) announced at a Monday press conference.

The play is co-produced by the CNPOC and the Italian Emilia Romagna Theatre Foundation.

After performing 12 shows in Bologna and Modena, Italy, from Oct. 8 to 25 during the VIE Festival 2015, the performance will debut for Chinese audiences at Tsinghua University in Beijing on Nov. 12.

Chen Ying, deputy head of the CNPOC, said at the press conference that by rendering western classics in oriental art form, the performance is an experiment to tell world stories with Chinese expressions.

The play was jointly created by artists from China, Italy and Germany, including Chinese playwright Li Meini, German director Anna Peschke, Chinese director Xu Mengke, Italian composers Luigi Ceccarelli, Alessandro Cipriani and Chinese composer Chen Xiaoman.
