A Didi Dache driver surnamed Zheng has been accused of raping a female passenger surnamed Wang in July. The Haidian District Procuratorate has initiated a public prosecution against Zheng, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.
Zheng used the Didi Dache app, a popular taxi service platform to find Wang, who got into his car at 3 am. When they arrived at Wang's destination in Haidian district, Zheng suddenly locked the car doors and drove the car to a secluded place, where he allegedly raped her. Wang called the police after Zheng left, and Zheng was arrested the same day.
Han Xiao, a Beijing-based lawyer, said Didi Dache should also shoulder part of the responsibility since they failed to regularize its users.
