The murder took place on Sept 17, in Donghai town of Lufeng city. On Monday night, the victim's wife, surnamed Gao, told The Mirror that her husband had a dispute over the phone with a creditor over the extortionate rate of interest on the loan before the creditor went to his home with another two men, all carrying pistols, and shot him dead.

Gao said the creditor and two other men fired six shots at Lin. Three shots hit Lin, including a fatal shot to the heart.

Gao and her husband run a word-processing business in Donghai town. Lin borrowed a usurious loan of 30,000 yuan ($4,728) from the creditor several years ago. According to Gao, Lin repaid the capital but was still in debt of more than 10,000 yuan in interest. He said he would repay the interest by the end of September, but the creditor rejected the offer, showed up at their doorstep with armed men and killed him.

Gao recalls three men threatening relatives during the time of the incident by raising their guns at them.

According to a written description provided to The Mirror by a relative, after being shot in the shoulder and shot in the left leg, Lin clutched a suspect's thigh but was shot in the chest before the suspects fled the scene.

Lin was sent to the hospital but all rescue measures failed.
