China on Friday pledged to cooperate with the United States on law enforcement and investigation of drug trafficking, after the U.S. arrested 151 people allegedly involved in a China-Middle East synthetic drug network.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency made the announcement of the arrests on Thursday and said the synthetic marijuana they seized is mostly manufactured in China and sent to the Middle East before flowing into the United States.

China is ready to investigate synthetic drugs in China and carry out law enforcement cooperation with the United States, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

"China has always been committed to cracking down drugs and solving drug problems with other countries, including the United States," she said.

A large number of cross-border drug trafficking cases have been resolved, thanks to close cooperation of the counter-narcotics departments of the two countries, she said.

The two countries are also cooperating on reducing the need for drugs, including rehabilitation and recovery.

"Cooperation on counter-narcotics has become one highlight of law-enforcement cooperation between China and the U.S." Hua said.
