By Foshan's city government will seek further expansion of Sino-foreign co-operation in developing its rich Lingnan (South China) cultural and tourism resources during the 2015 Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival.

Mai Jiehua, deputy mayor of Foshan, said myriad of Sino-foreign opportunities have been created for the ancient city located only 20 kilometers away from Guangdong provincial capital Guangzhou. Jiehua is expecting the city's cultural and tourism industries to play an increasing important role in the city's economic construction in the years ahead.

The event, which takes place from Oct 30 to Nov 1, will also include special food festivals with Kung Fu (martial arts) and Yueju performances.

The 2015 Asia Club Dragon Boat Racing Competition will also be organized during the three-day event.

Foshan, the hometown of Kung Fu super stars of Bruce Lee and Ye Wen, is the birthplace of Yueju (Guangdong opera) which is more than 150 years old. The arias are sung in distinctive Cantonese dialect and the accompanying music is also typical of the southern area.
