China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang called more to be done for prosperity and stability in Hong Kong as he met with a delegation of security units from the region Friday.

Zhang, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks to the delegation, which was led by Lai Tung-kwok, the Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Zhang said the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, championed by President Xi Jinping, is the common aspiration of all Chinese, including Hong Kong people.

Zhang said the security units have played a crucial role in safeguarding the policies of "one country, two systems" as well as the law and stability of HKSAR and hoped the units would continue to uphold national sovereignty, security and development.
