Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his role as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Friday sent a message to the first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Kim Jong-un, to congratulate him on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the WPK.
In the message, Xi, on behalf of the Central Committee of the CPC and in his own name, extended warm congratulations to Kim and through him to the Central Committee of the WPK, all its members and all the people of North Korea.
Under the leadership of late president Kim Il-sung and late leader Kim Jong-il, the WPK has led the people to realize national independence and liberation of the people, and made remarkable achievements in the cause of socialist revolution and construction in the country, after overcoming numerous difficulties, said Xi.
Kim Jong-un, carrying forward the will of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, has led the WPK and the Korean people to achieve positive progress in developing the economy and improving people's livelihood, among others, Xi added.
Xi expressed his sincere wish that the North Koreans would keep making new and greater achievements in the cause of Korean-style socialist construction.
Xi said China is willing to make joint efforts with North Korea to maintain, consolidate and develop the China-North Korea friendship, so as to play a positive and constructive role in maintaining regional as well as world peace and stability.
Meanwhile, a CPC delegation led by Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Pyongyang on Friday for a four-day visit. The delegation will also attend activities marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the WPK.
Liu will meet with North Korean leaders to exchange views on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.
