The National Tourism Administration has launched a nationwide campaign aiming at shortening tourists' waiting time for public toilet to less than 10 minutes.

China will build new restrooms at scenic spots and improve the existing ones in 3A and above level scenic spots and those located in countryside, focusing on garbage disposal, sewage treatment, toilet hygiene conditions improvement and guidance facilities.

Renovation work will enhance the overall hygiene level of scenic route, catering, accommodation, entertainment, shopping and parking place. "The toilet 'revolution' aims to shorten toursists' waiting time for public toilet to less than 10 minutes", said Peng Decheng, director general of China National Tourism Administration Planning and Finance Division.

By the end of the renovation work, the National Tourism Bureau will organize inspection teams to evaluate the hygiene level of tourist attractions randomly. The bureau will warn and disqualify the scenic spots with serious problems.
