Tianjin blasts death toll rises to 164

The death toll from the Tianjin warehouse explosions has risen to 164 as remains of a missing fire fighter were identified on Thursday, according to rescue authorities.

Nine people remain missing, including six firefighters and three civilians.

A total of 98 firefighters, 11 policemen and 55 civilians were killed in the blast. Hundreds remain in hospital.

Two blasts ripped through a warehouse at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 in Tianjin Port, where large amounts of toxic chemicals were stored, including around 700 tonnes of sodium cyanide.
