Beijing to close roads, subway stations for parade

Beijing will close roads and subway stations from Wednesday to Friday for a parade to mark the 70th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, scheduled for Sept. 3.[Special coverage]

According to the Beijing Subway, stations along Chang'an Avenue will be closed to the public from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Seven subway stations on Line 2, including Qianmen, Chongwenmen, Xuanwumen, Hepingmen, Jianguomen, Changchunjie and Fuxingmen, will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 12 a.m. Thursday.

Four stations on Line 4, Xidan, Xisi, Lingjinghutong and Xuanwumen, two stations on Line 5, Dongdan and Chongwenmen, and Guomao station on Line 10 will also be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 12 a.m. Thursday.

More than 20 stations on seven subway lines in the downtown area will be closed from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Multiple roads, including streets surrounding Tian'anmen Square and Chang'an Avenue and roads in the Nankou area of Changping District, where the soldiers trained for the parade, will also be closed. Vehicles may only enter with a permit.
