A woman stopped from boarding a flight for carrying a bottle of cognac shocked airport security in Beijing when she decided to drink it down at the gate, local media reported Monday.
Police were eventually called to escort the 40-year-old woman, surnamed Zhao, for being drunk in public at Beijing Capital International Airport on noon Friday after she polished off the entire bottle. "She was drunk and fading in and out of consciousness. We needed to take her away in a wheelchair," police said.
Zhao became surly after airport security denied her from boarding the flight from Beijing to Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province with a 700 yuan ($114) bottle of Remy Martin XO.
When airport officials informed Zhao that alcohol was forbidden on the flight and she must leave it behind, Zhao decided to down it instead.
Zhao soon showed she could not hold her liquor and began creating a disturbance at the gate.
The plane's captain decided to ban her from the flight for safety reasons, police said.
