Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Cameroon counterpart Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo Tuesday in Beijing, vowing closer cooperation between the two countries.

Hailing the traditional friendship and strong complementarity in economy and trade, Wang said China is willing to make good use of the friendly ties as the momentum driving further cooperation, and help Cameroon to translate its rich resources into economic muscle.

He suggested that the two countries can step up industrial capacity and infrastructure construction cooperation, citing the Kribi port as an example.

The Kribi deep sea port in southern Cameroon is being constructed by China Harbor and Engineering Company (CHEC), and the first phase of the project was concluded last year.

Wang also suggested increasing cooperation in such areas as agriculture, fisheries, aviation, human resources, peace and security as well as international affairs.

Mbonjo said important achievements have been made during his visit this time, as the two sides exchanged opinions in a candid manner for advancing friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
