Chinese star shuttler Wang Shixian failed to enter the women's singles semis of the world championship here on Friday, losing to Spain's Carolina Marin in the quarters.

In the more than one hour duel, Wang, the 7th seed, made errors in the last moment, gifting the Spain's No. 1 a 21-17, 21-19 win.

Marin will take on the winner of India's PV Sindhu and South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun in the semis.

In the men's singles, Japanese ace Kento Momota, world No. 4 and the recent Indonesia Open Super Series winner, trashed Hong Kong non-seeded player Wei Nan to get a semifinal berth. China's Chen Long struggled to advance to the semifinals.

In the mixed doubles, Xu Chen/Ma Jin, China's No. 2, trashed Jacco Arends/Selena Piek from the Netherlands 21-9, 21-18.
