Some 3,500 overseas Chinese youths on Saturday gathered together at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to celebrate their journey of "seeking root".

Organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, China's Cabinet, the event aims to cultivate overseas Chinese young people's understanding of Chinese civilization. Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi attended the gathering.

The youngsters, from 54 countries and regions, learned Chinese traditional art and culture over the past days.
