Heavy rainstorms have hit Beijing and affected more than 450,000 people in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since last Thursday, meteorological authorities said.

Beijing experienced a heavy downpour Monday night, with precipitation surpassing 127.7 mm in the city's Fangshan District. Several roads were flooded after the rain.

Heavy rain is expected to hit the city again Tuesday night, and thunder showers are forecast for the next few days, according to the municipal flood control and drought relief headquarters.

In Guangxi, 450,300 people have been affected by heavy rain since last Thursday, causing houses to collapse, decimating crops and blocking highways.

Water levels in several rivers in the region have surpassed warning levels, and 10 cities, including Guilin, and 24 counties have suffered floods.

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, two people were missing, and 15,000 people had been evacuated. More than 15,000 hectares of farmland were damaged and 870houses collapsed.

The regional hydrology and water resources bureau issued a yellow alert for floods on Tuesday afternoon.

Six Vietnamese vessels capsized or ran aground on Monday afternoon near Fangchenggang City due to stormy weather and huge waves. Forty-eight crew members have been saved as of Tuesday morning.
