Chinese civil aviation watchdog asked local branches to conduct safety checks on medium-size, small and new airports after a passenger caused chaos on a flight on Sunday.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) held an urgent teleconference late on Sunday to enhance safety checks after a passenger attempted to damage facilities on Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9648, which departed from Taizhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province, when it was landing at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The passenger has been detained for causing chaos on the flight and CAAC asked regional branches to conduct safety and accoutability check of Taizhou Airport.
