Four Siberian tiger cubs have been born in semi-free conditions in northeast China's Heilongjiang Siberian Tiger Park, the park announced on Thursday.

The first was born in the park's forests. Its mother later took it to a nearby man-made cave, where she gave birth to the other three.

The three males and one female were born between June 6 and 8. A male cub was born in similar conditions at the park in 2011.

The park's Liu Dan said they are trying to help Siberian tigers to breed in the wild and their cubs must learn to survive in the wild as well.

"We've been working on this for 20 years. This year, we're trying to increase the number of breeding females," he said.

Siberian tigers are among the world's most endangered species. They mostly live in northeast China and eastern Russia.

The Siberian Tiger Park opened in 1986 with only eight Siberian tigers.
