A Chinese traditional painting exhibition was held Wednesday in the Turkish capital of Ankara, as part of cultural exchange between the two countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Yu Hongyang said "this exhibition has brought together many painting arts and well-known painters," which "makes an important part of this year's cultural exchange between China and Turkey."

The ambassador expressed his hope that "this exhibition and technical show will be seen by everyone as an art banquet," saying that it will bring Chinese and Turkish people closer and friendly relations will be stronger in all areas.

With the participation of three Chinese painters of Ji Qingyuan, Li Naizhou and Bi Jianxun, the event was co-organized by Chinese Embassy in Ankara, Turkey-China Friendship Foundation, Beijing Municipal Institute of Culture and History Research (BMICHR) and Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC) at Hamam Arkasi Culture and Arts Center in Ankara.

BPAFFC Vice President Guo Aihua said the Chinese picture is an important part of the Chinese people's sumptuous culture and the best reflection of the Chinese civilization.

Guo classified the 36 works on the exhibition as human being, landscape and bird-flower, saying that "in some view, these works reflect life comprehension and love of the Beijing contemporary painters."

Painter Ji Qingyuan told Xinhua that looking back to the history, Turkey and China had a historical connection, adding that "we brought these works to communicate with Turkish painters to let Turkish people learn more about Chinese culture."
