Ricardo Goulart scored a penalty to help Guangzhou Evergrande lead 1-0 at first half of the second leg of AFC Champions League Round of 16 here on Wednesday.

If the hosts can keep the score till the final whistle, Guangzhou will advance to the quarterfinals on away goal rule despite a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

In the 25th minute, Huang Bowen made a long range shot, only to see South Korean defender Kwak Haeseong blocking the ball with his arm and the refree pointed to the spot immediately. Goulart scored his seventh goal in the tournament by sending the keeper to wrong direction.

Guangzhou goalkeeper Zeng Cheng made a fine save as he stopped Kim Doheon' s shot before the halftime.
