2015 Boao Youth Forum opens in Hong Kong

An opening ceremony for the ongoing 2015 Boao Youth Forum (Hong Kong) was held in Hong Kong Thursday, gathering over 30 prominent leaders in politics, economics and culture to explore new opportunities for young people across the region.

The two-day forum, which started on Wednesday, was co-organized by Boao Forum for Asia and the Y.Elites Association under the theme "Asia in Restructuring: Vision and Action of Youth".

Hong Kong's Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam said at the ceremony that Asia is the world's fastest economic growing region, offering a platform for young people from Hong Kong and all over the world to flex their muscles.

Lam said Hong Kong's advantage is being a super-connector between the mainland and the world. Young generation in Hong Kong should capitalize on the preferential treatment given by the country and the momentum provided by the Mainland's rapid development, and seize the opportunities brought by economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Zhang Xiaoming, head of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong also spoke at the ceremony, encouraging young people in Hong Kong to be farsighted, broadminded and to strive in self-improvement.

He said Hong Kong should continue to attract capital and talents from all over the world so as to maintain its fascination and energy.

Zhou Wenzhou, secretary-general of Boao Forum for Asia said that young generation is the future for Asia and they are the one to explore new prospects and look for the road ahead in Asia.

Noted that this year, with a great speaker lineup and the passion of young people joining the event, he believed a foremost, innovative and sustainable solutions for Asia and young generations could be found through the forum.
