Nepal confirms crash of missing U.S. chopper in Dolakha

The wreckage of the missing U.S. military chopper had been found in a forest near Kalinchowk of Dolakha district, an official from the Nepalese government confirmed on Friday.

The crashed helicopter was found near Kalinchowk at an elevation of around 11, 100 feet. Spokesperson at the Ministry of Defense Surya Kant Panthi told Xinhua "It's confirmed that the missing chopper has been found at around 56 kilometers east from the capital".

But the details of the eight people on board the chopper including two Nepalese soldiers and six U.S. marines in the UN- 1Y helicopter are unknown now.

Panthi said "We are yet to know whether there are any survivors ".

A search and rescue team from the Nepal Army has been sent to the area for confirming the status of the missing military chopper.

The chopper, which was on a rescue mission in the hardest hit areas of Dolakha, lost contact on Tuesday.
