A 58-member Chinese government medical team returned to Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Saturday after a 13-day mission to aid post-earthquake Nepal. [Special coverage]

The team, organized by People's Hospital of Sichuan, arrived in Nepal on April 26, one day after an 8.1-magnitude earthquake jolted the Himalayan country. Most of team members have rescue experience since they had participated in first-aid work after devastating quakes in Sichuan's Wenchuan and Lushan.

In Nepal, the Chinese doctors treated 606 patients, including 117 seriously injured, according to Du Bo, head of the medical team.

"We worked with local hospitals and started treating patients immediately after our arrival," said Deng Shaoping, deputy head of the team, and head of People's Hospital.

The death toll from the earthquake climbed to 7,885 on Friday, with 17,803 others injured.
