Four people have been arrested in north China's Tianjin municipality for dumping 10,000 tonnes of unprocessed industrial waste water, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

Among the suspects, three worked at a chemical plant in the city and allegedly received waste water from another company to extract copper sulfate, the SPP said.

With no processing procedures, the water was then illegally discharged for two years, totaling more than 10,000 tonnes, the statement said.

The fourth suspect was the middle man between the two groups.

The case is among 12 on an SPP's priority list of environmental crime.
