Shanghai's Power Station of Art opens an exhibition of sketches, documents, and models by internationally renowned architect Renzo Piano.

He brought models of 27 of his buildings to Shanghai for the first time. His partner says buildings like Pompidou Center are an important part of any great city.

"This building was against all the traditional museums at time, the idea was to open the museum to the people, and that's why you have this building that is completely open to the city. It was a revolution in the 70s, the end of 70s. Now it became part of the city, and I think Paris could not live without this building," said Giorgio Bianchi, partner of RPWB Paris.

Piano said that every city has its own story to tell, and he and his team are also impressed by Shanghai.

"We never comment the architecture of a city, the city is made of diversity, I think Shanghai as a beauty which is inside the diversity represented by different building, It's a little bit like when you go to New York, you don't have lots of beautiful buildings in New York, some are very nice, some are less nice. But the entire thing makes the city unique," he said.

The exhibition is open free of charge and will run until June 28.
