Teenage drug users on the rise

It's been six months since China announced its war on drugs in more than 100 major cities. South China's Guangdong province remains the top target of the crackdown, because of its rampant cross-border drug trafficking.

A big concern is the growing prevalence of synthetic drugs, especially among the young. Substances such as chrystal meth and ecstacy are taken by some 86 percent of drug users under 18.

Police are also stepping up information-gathering and online supervision, to weed out drug deals made over the Internet.
