Top legislature schedules bi-monthly session

China's top legislature will convene its bi-monthly session from April 20 to 24, its chairman and vice-chairpeople decided at a meeting on on Friday.

Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, presided over the 45th chairpersons' meeting.

The 14th bi-monthly session of this NPC Standing Committee will see continued reviewing of draft amendments to laws covering areas including food safety, advertisement, state security and overseas NGOs.

Lawmakers will deliberate on proposals to revise laws covering areas including securities, grain security and drug administration.

Legislators will also review proposals and reports concerning reform of the jury system, the work of pilot free-trade zones, and cultural services.

And lawmakers will decide whether to ratify the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia proposed by the State Council.

The chairpeople also adopted a plan for NPC work in 2015.
