No Chinese passengers were onboard the crashed Germanwings flight 4U9525, Germanwings CEO Thomas Winkelmann said at a press conference in Cologne on Tuesday.

According to Winkelmann, the plane left Barcelona at 10:01 a.m. local time with 144 passengers onboard, including two babies, and six crew members.

The aircraft, which should arrive at 11:35 a.m. local time in Dusseldorf, reached its cruising altitude of 38,000 feet at 10:45 a.m. local time, said Winkelmann.

The plane started to descend at about 10:46 a.m. and the descent lasted about eight minutes, he said.

"At 10:53 clock, the contact with the French radar was broken at an altitude of 6,000 feet," said Winkelmann, "and then the plane crashed."

According to Winkelmann, the last routine check of the plane was carried out on Monday in Dusseldorf by Lufthansa Technik. The last "big check" has taken place as scheduled in the summer of 2013.

He added that the captain of the unfortunate plane, who worked for Lufthansa and Germanwings for 10 years, had more than 6,000 flight hours, while the aircraft had 58,300 flight hours.

Among all the passengers, there were 67 Germans on board, said Winkelmann.

An Airbus A320 of the German airline Germanwings crashed Tuesday in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in southern France on Tuesday. According to the French police, there are no survivors.
