The Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Government's Foreign Affairs Office, Wang Wei, has held an emergency meeting with Myanmar's consul general to negotiate issues regarding Friday's bombing incident.

Wang said since fighting erupted in northern Myanmar, China has provided humanitarian assistance to refugees.

And he pointed out that the continuing conflict has caused great financial losses and casualties in the area bordering China.

China has lodged a solemn representation with Myanmar on the severe violation of its sovereignty and national security.

China has urged Myanmar authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the incident, and to take action to resolve the conflict. The Chinese Air Force says several fighter jets have been deployed to step up air patrol along the border.
