China sees less precipitation and higher temperature in Feb

In February of 2015, the average precipitation of China was less than the same period of normal years. Meanwhile, the average temperature was higher than the normal.

Last month, the average precipitation of China was 16.3mm, 6.3% lower than the same period of normal years (17.4 mm). The rainfall in most areas of China was 20%-80% lower than normal. In central Xinjiang, southern Qinghai, southwestern Sichuan, and northern Yunnan, the precipitation was 80% lower than the normal. Only in eastern Inner Mongolia, most areas of Northeast China, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze region, central-western Gansu, northern Qinghai, and southern Tibet, the precipitation was 50%-200% higher than the same period.

In this February, Northeast China saw warm and wet weather. The average temperature was -9.9℃, 2.0℃ higher than the normal years. Meanwhile, the precipitation was 14.8 mm, 180% higher than the past years' average.

During the Spring Festival Season (from February 4 to 28), the precipitation in Northeast China, northern North China, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze region was higher than the annual average.

Moreover, in the February, the average temperature of China was -0.2℃, 1.5℃ higher than the annual average, and reached the sixth highest record since 1961. In most areas of China, the temperatures were close to or higher than the normal. In eastern Inner Mongolia, western Heilongjiang, northern Xinjiang, southern Guangxi, and northern Guangdong, the temperature were 2-4℃ higher than the normal years. Moreover, Northeast China saw extremely daily cold in February.
