A couple in their 70's left 300 yuan (US$50) and a note on the table before going away on Spring Festival holiday for a potential "thief" who might break in when they are away.
The old couple are retired teachers who love traveling. Every time they go away, they leave some money and a note on the table for a potential thief who might break in when they are away. This has become their tradition for over a decade.
This time they are taking a two-month trip to Shenzhen, Guangdong in south China to celebrate this year's Spring Festival. They left anote saying, "I know you have suffered a lot this year. You must be longing to go home to see your parents. Please take the money and buy a train ticket. Find a decent job when you come back."
A few years ago, the couple actually had a thief break it. When they went back from a long vacation in 2010, they saw footprints on the floor, and the money on the table gone. Luckily, they didn't touch anything else. "I believe that people are born kind", the husband said, "whoever he or she is, we should reach out a helping hand when somebody is in trouble."
