Tibetan officials who are suspected of providing intelligence to the Dalai Lama's separatist forces are being probed, the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Tibet autonomous region announced in Lhasa on Tuesday, chinanews.com reported.

Altogether fifteen officials in Tibet have been punished for "serious violations of discipline" in 2014, according to Wang Gang, the secretary-general of the commission.

But the commission did not give any details of the investigation. In China, the term "serious violation of discipline" can be used to denote corruption.

China has stepped up its anti-corruption campaign, which has netted "tigers" (corrupt high-ranking officials) as well as "flies" (lower-raking officials), across the country.
