The Hani Terraces in China's Yunnan are UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage site. They have been named by the BBC as one of the "5 Wonders of the World," alongside the India Highland Fortress, Namibia sand sea, active volcanoes in Italy and Mount Fuji in Japan.

Hani Terraced Field is the origin of the terrace culture. The terrace was created by the Hani Ethnic Group over a period of 1-thousand-3-hundred years. It is a unique and integrated ecological system which comprises the forests on the hilltop, terraced -villages on the hillsides, and the water system at the foot of the hills.

The Hani people also developed their unique civilization along the way. The ethnic cultural system comprises of villages, dwellings and buildings, in addition to traditional agrarian production and lifestyles, traditional customs and much more.
