16 killed in accidents related to special equipment in Nov

China had 16 accidents which caused 16 deaths involving special equipment, including boilers and elevators in November, the country's quality watchdog said on Tuesday.

Luo Fangping, spokesperson for the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a news conference that such accidents are also to blame for the injuries of another five people.

The number of people who died from such accidents was down by 33.33 percent from the same time period last year, while the number of injuries was down by 81 percent.

Accidents involving elevators accounted for a majority of all the accidents, with 7 accidents involving elevators taking place in November, Luo said.
