Starting today, visitors to the National Museum can view an animated version of the ancient painting The Qianlong Emperor's Southern Inspection Tour, which depicts the historic travels of Emperor Qianlong (1711-99) in the south of China in 1751, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

The museum has adopted 3D technology to help viewers appreciate the artwork and understand its history. With a total length of 154 meters, the painting has 12 chapters depicting the daily life of a Chinese city in the 18th century. This painting is the first piece of art exhibited at the museum's new digital showroom.
