A man suspected of killing five people has been caught by police in south China's Guangdong Province.

Shen, 35, allegedly killed five fellow workers with an iron bar at about 3 p.m. last Saturday at a construction site in Guangzhou, Guangdong's capital, a police officer told Xinhua Wednesday.

Shen started the killing spree after he made a mistake while installing electrical equipment and was criticized by his fellow workers, said the police officer.

Several people were injured in the brawl, five of whom died.

The Southern Metropolis Daily quoted a witness Li Xing as saying that the bar was "close to 80 centimeters in length".

"He attacked anyone he saw," Li said, noting that he and some victims did not even know the suspect.

The victims were between 40 and 45 years old, from southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The case is under further investigation.
