CBA shocked by brawl between Sichuan and Tianjin

An ugly brawl occurred during the match between Sichuan and Tianjin in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.

The melee broke out with 4:20 minutes left in the final quarter.Sichuan's Daniel Orton, the former Thunder center, was kicked by Tijian player Liu Wei after they fell on the floor. Orton was infuriated and suddenly punched Liu's left leg, which igniting the brawl.

During the brawl, Orton scuffled with Tianjin's Shang Pin from the floor to the stands. One of the audience was trying to hit Shang with the bottle at that moment.

When the chaos was over, Orton and his teammate Xu Tao, who pushed Liu during the fighting, were ejected. Tianjin's Liu and Shang were also sent off by referees.

Sichuan finally won over Tianjin 112-89 at home.

The CBA just suspended 23 female basketball players in WCBA this week due to their bench-clearing brawl, which led the referee to cancel the game between Sichuan and Zhejiang on Dec. 14.

Lester Hudson and Deon Thompson wrapped up 30 points each to help League leader Liaoning took an easy victory by crashing Chongqing 127-102 while Guangdong edged Shandong for 11th straight win.

Defending champion Beijing returned to their track by beating Zhejiang 128-117. Randolph Morris led the Beijing with 32 points and former NBA superstar Stephon Marbury add 23 points and 10 assists.

In other matches, Foshan hammered Tongxi 122-101, Shanxi stunned Xinjiang 116-100, Guangsha downed Shanghai 112-105, Jinlin overwhelmed Bayi 106-88, Fujian smashed Jiangsu 126-103, Qingdao crushed Dongguan 112-96.
