Beijing considers policy on gaokao bonus points

A revised local policy on bonus points for the national college entrance examination, or gaokao, in Beijing will be presented to the Ministry of Education by the end of January 2015, the Beijing News reported. The policy will be in line with the national guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education on December 17, which prevent math, science and sport competition winners from receiving extra points on their gaokao.

Heads of education institutions interviewed in Beijing said this new policy will reduce stress for students and will not have much influence on their preparation for their college entrance exams.
