Tough fire prevention inspections are going on in China's entertainment venues after a fatal fire in Henan Province killed 11 people.

Beijing fire department Wednesday ordered a thorough inspection of all entertainment venues. Those failing to reach safety standards must suspend operations.

Inspectors will check fire prevention facilities, interior decoration materials, exit signs and emergency lighting, and ensure the emergency exits are not blocked.

Similar inspections are underway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and southwest China's Sichuan Province.

All entertainment venues in Xinjiang were asked to close and may only reopen after inspection. Fire-control training and education will also be enhanced in the region.

The inspections come after eleven people were killed and 24 injured in a Karaoke fire in Henan on Monday.
