Chinese, Kazakh FMs pledge closer ties, cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Kazakh counterpart Erlan Idrisov met in Astana on Monday on bilateral ties and issues of common concern, vowing to work together for closer cooperation between the two countries.

Both ministers pledged to better implement the consensus reached between the leaders of their countries, promote bilateral cooperation in various areas, intensify coordination and interaction within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and continuously push forward the development of relations between their countries.

Wang was accompanying Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on an official visit to the Central Asian country and for attending the 13th SCO prime ministers' meeting. [Special coverage]
