A Chinese feature claims bronze by IOC's broadcast rewards

A Chinese sport feature named The Dream of Mengtao has claimed the bronze of the Best Olympic Feature on Monday evening at the Olympic Golden Rings Awards ceremony in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

The Gold Rings, the International Olympic Committee's awards for outstanding broadcast coverage of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, selected the winners through an international jury headed by IOC member Gian-Franco Kasper.

Gold, silver and bronze trophies were awarded in six categories: Best Olympic Sports Production by Olympic Broadcasting Services, Best Digital Offering, Best On-Air Promotion, Best Olympic Feature, Best Athlete Profile and Best Olympic Programme. There was also a special award for the Olympic Video Player.

The bronze taking feature of China was produced by the country' s state-run broadcasting station CCTV and trailed "Winter's Theater" by NBC Olympics and "Sochi 2014 Teaser and Opener" by Network Ten Australia.

The awards ceremony took place in Monaco, which is currently hosting the 127th IOC Session, at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club. The trophies were presented by Olympic champions Jonathan Edwards and Yang Yang.

Created in 1976, the Olympic Golden Rings is a prestigious international contest through which the IOC seeks to promote and recognize excellence in television broadcasting of the Olympic Games.
