Hong Kong police have arrested 116 people after clashing with protesters in the Mong Kok district, the site of a two-month long demonstration.

Since Tuesday, hundreds of demonstrators have been flocking to the makeshift camp to stop workers and bailiffs from enforcing a court order to remove all barricades and tents in the area. The majority of arrests were made for unlawful assembly and assaulting or obstructing officers.

At least 23 others were detained for contempt of court or resisting the bailiffs. Authorities spent most of Tuesday clearing the 50-meter stretch of Argyle Street covered by the court injunction, which was granted to a minibus company complaining that its business was affected by the occupation. By the evening, traffic was flowing again on the street for the first time in two months.
