The Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage has announced that a number of ancient mining sites discovered in a recent archaeological dig in Yanqing county will be made into tourist attractions, the Beijing Evening Post reported.

The mining sites date back to the Liao Dynasty (916-1125), and include old furnaces and other relics used for smelting iron and other metals. In total, archaeologists discovered five mines and four sites for metal smelting, covering 3,000 square meters.

The proposed tourist attraction aims to show off Beijing's distinct ancient industrial heritage, according to the report.
