The first China Shanxi International Traveling Agents Purchase Conference was unveiled in the provincial capital of Taiyuan on Nov 16.

The conference, as the first large-scale tourism promotion targeting overseas travel practitioners, was divided into two parts, a business meeting and a promotion meeting. More than 300 travel agents from 32 countries and regions attended the conference. Nearly 400 others, including representatives from the National Administration Tourism, other overseas functional offices, tourism bureaus at provincial and municipal levels, key travel agencies and key tourism areas, also attended.

The first China Shanxi International Traveling Agents Purchase Conference highlighted Shanxi's cultural elements. The conference opened with traditional Shanxi folk songs. Other Shanxi traditional cultures and customs, including paper-cutting, dough craftsmanship and famous noodle foods, were also presented to the attendees at the event. A five-minute promo featuring Shanxi's tourism resources was played during the conference.

The purchase conference has built a platform for exchange and cooperation between the province's tourism enterprises and overseas travel agents.

Shanxi and South Korea have had frequent tourism culture exchanges and interactions in recent years. Next year will welcome the China-South Korea tourism year. The purchase conference will help to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the two sides, according to representatives of South Korea's travel agents.

The conference aims to expand Shanxi's overseas tourism markets and promote its international popularity and influence. It was expected to present more charm and surprises to overseas travel agents and to present Shanxi's tourism brand: Shanxi, a land of splendors for global tourists.
