A set of photos showing a foreigner blocking an offending car with his bicycle in Beijing has gone viral over the Internet, the Southern Metropolis Daily reports.

The photos taken on November 15, 2014 shows a foreign man standing before a Mercedes Benz sedan, with his bicycle in between, at the end of an isolated bike lane on eastern Beijing's Yaojiayuan Road.

The report said the driver sounded the horn, attempting to force the rider to make way for him. But instead of moving aside, the foreigner blocked the lane by placing his bicycle in the path of the automobile.

The driver tried to persuade the foreign man to move away with gestures, but in vain. Then, he moved back and got out of the lane.

The photos, posted on Sina Weibo, set abuzz China's social media and made the headline even on China Central Television (CCTV).

Over 43,000 Weibo users have reblogged the post, which received more than 17,000 likes.

But the identity of the biker has yet to be verified.

The man's deed reminds many citizens of a foreign woman who stood her ground when a Chinese driver illegally drove into a biking lane in October 2006.

The driver responded vehemently and threw her bike on the ground.

The woman also got massive thumbs up online, while the driver had to make a public apology after spotted through a "human flesh search."
