Woman detained for cutting off boy's penis in C China

The boy is receiving treatment in the hospital.

A three-year-old boy's penis was completely cut off by his uncle's girlfriend in central China's Luohe City on Nov. 7, 2014, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

According to the boy, he irritated his uncle's girlfriend by trying to use her cell phone to play music when she was in the bathroom. The boy's mother was helping a relative harvest corn when the tragedy happened.

The family immediately rushed the boy to a hospital in the provincial capital of Zhengzhou. He received a six-hour operation to reconnect his penis, and was then sent to a Beijing hospital for further treatment.

According to Peking University First Hospital, the reconstruction of the boy's penis was generally successful. He will be able to have children, but he may not be able to stand up to urinate, and his future sex life will definitely be affected.

The suspect has been detained and has undergone psychological evaluation.

The China Charities Aid Foundation for Children is raising funds for the family to cover the medical costs and help the boy recover from the psychological trauma.
