The entrance ticket price of Wuyi Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its spectacular view and the fragrant oolong tea in Wuyishan city, Fujian province, will be lowered to one yuan ($0.16) from Nov 21 to Apr 20, 2015, according to the local tourism authorities.

Wen Xiumei, director of Nanping Tourism Bureau, which administers the scenic spot, said the adjustment is to boost local tourism revenue and promote tea tourism as the move will attract more visitors to spend a few days in the spot.

Wen made the remarks during the eighth Cross-Straits Tea expo, an annual event held in Wuyi Mountain. The event will conclude on Tuesday.

The normal charge is 140 yuan. The adjustment time excludes the Spring Festival (Feb 19-25), a high season of travel.
