China has announced six aspects to promote core socialist values in school curriculums and teacher evaluations, to help ensure that these are reflected in their behavior, the country's top education authority said on Monday.

These cover school curriculums, cultural education and social practice for students, institution building, teacher evaluation and promotion.

The announcement suggested that these values can be promoted by encouraging composing songs and writing poems about core socialist values, asking students to memorize the values, amending the Chinese, history and morality textbooks to include the values.

"Facing the contest of diversified ideologies and values in the world, promoting socialist values is very tough and urgent," read an announcement by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.

The doctrine has been encouraged by the Communist Party of China (CPC) since its 18th National Party Congress in late 2012. It has evolved into a national campaign to rebuild faith amid concerns that China has lost its moral compass during its three-decade-long economic miracle, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Zhan Wansheng, director at the China National Institute for Educational Research, told the Global Times on Tuesday that the education of core socialist value should be introduced step by step. He said such education should always close to the students' experiences.

Core socialist values include national prosperity, democracy, civility and harmony; social goals of freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law; and individual values of patriotism, dedication, integrity, and friendship.
