Light haze is expected to shroud parts of north China with rain hitting the country's southwest over the next three days, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Tuesday.

The central and southern parts of north China will see light to moderate smog in some areas, as unfavorable weather conditions spread on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The smog will ease on Wednesday due to a cold front, the center said in a statement.

The NMC forecast that the cold front will sweep parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north and northeast China, as well as areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will drop by up to 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.

The rain will hit parts of south and southwest China, as well as areas on the south of the Yangtze River in the coming days. Some regions in Yunnan, Guizhou provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will see heavy rain, it added.
