Chinese vice premier meets Yale president

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with Yale University President Peter Salovey in Beijing on Tuesday.

Liu expressed appreciation over the contribution Yale University has made to training talents and advancing reform and development of higher education in China. She encouraged the university to expand its cooperation with China in various areas by using its own advantages. Liu also expressed the wish that Yale University will play a bigger role in promoting people-to-people exchanges so as to help build a new type of relationship between the big powers.

Yale University has a long history of cooperation with China. The first modern Chinese student to study overseas studied at Yale University more than 150 years ago.
